Last Updated: August 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WhatTheFart ("the App")
collects, uses, and protects information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Audio & Media Files
The App provides features to record sounds using your microphone and import existing audio files (e.g., MP3s) from your device.
- Local Storage: All recordings and imported files are stored strictly in the App's private internal storage on your device.
- No Transmission: We do not upload, transmit, or store your audio files on our own servers.
- Control: You can delete your recordings or imported sounds at any time within the App, which permanently removes them from your device.
Background Processing
The App uses standard Android background processing (WorkManager) to facilitate user-requested features such as "Fart Bombs" or "Ghost Mode" timers.
- These tasks run locally to trigger audio playback or notifications at your specified time.
- We do not use background tasks to collect data, track your location, or monitor your activity.
Advertising Data
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google AdMob may automatically collect certain information to provide and measure advertising, including:
- Device type and model
- Operating system version
- Advertising ID (AAID)
- IP address (used for approximate location)
- App interaction data related to advertising
This information is collected by Google in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- No Accounts: We do not require user accounts or logins.
- No Personal Details: We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- No Server-Side Storage: Your custom sounds never leave your device.
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
4. Advertising & Consent
The App displays advertisements via Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices and location (e.g., GDPR regions), Google may use your Advertising ID to show personalized or non-personalized ads.
Where required by law, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent. You can update your preferences at any time from the "About Us" section within the App.
5. Data Safety & Security
We prioritize your privacy and data safety:
- No Data Sharing: We do not share your private audio files or recordings with any third parties.
- Device Security: Your files are protected by the Android operating system's internal storage sandbox, which prevents other apps from accessing WhatTheFart's private data.
- Data Deletion: Uninstalling the App will automatically remove all locally stored recordings and imported files.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with any information, please contact us at the email below.
